muslin

MUSLIN

Muslin is a finely-woven breathable fabric believed to have originated in Bangladesh during the Middle Ages.* One of the purest, simplest, most gentle and, in our opinion, most perfect fabrics in the world, here at aden + anais we are big believers in muslin’s long legacy and ability to bring caregivers and babies together.

  • Breathable and comfortable - safe for baby : The open weave and lightweight fabric of muslin helps reduce the risk of baby overheating, while still providing comfort and warmth.
  • Durable and soft - gets better with age: A workhorse fabric, any products woven in the natural fiber of muslin have the ability to withstand countless washes and become softer—and better—with age.
  • Gentle and strong - ideal for swaddling : mussola di cotone organico certificato GOTS prodotto in modo ecologico e socialmente responsabile
  • mussola di cotone bambù: The delicate, yet durable weave of muslin evokes stretchiness and a ‘natural give’ which allows the swaddle to be tucked snugly around baby—without being overly restrictive.
organic cotton

ORGANIC COTTON

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

Organic cotton clothes smell cleaner and feel softer than conventional cotton clothes. You can really notice the difference! Organic cotton is safer for your baby, the farmers, and the environment! Clothes made from organic cotton contain no chemicals or pesticides and won't trigger allergic reactions in your baby's sensitive skin (Babies' immature immune systems and rapidly developing bodies make them especially susceptible to chemical residues). The factory, which manufactures our clothes, works exclusively with organic cotton. From the cotton growth to the manufacture of our clothes the whole production chain is certified GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard).

TOYS MATERIALS

Most of the fabrics comes from France and Europe for their creativity and their technical quality, as well as their non-toxicity (the majority are tested by our suppliers following the system of reference Oeko-Tex). All the toys are tested according to the European Standard EN71 parts 1 / 2 and 3. These tests validate very strict criteria, in particular for toys aimed at children under 36 months. The tests are carried out by an independent French laboratory and include mechanical tests (no small part must detach itself when pulling at 90Nt force); flammability tests (to control the speed with which flames progress); chemical tests (to control the migration of heavy metals). All fabrics used are tested to check the absence of azo-dyes, the presence of which may be cancerous..

The choice of fabrics, their seams and their very original color and textile matching give to this toys a unique quality and identity. The new mobiles are produced exclusively with the highest quality natural materials and offer the strenght of wood and the softness of cotton. The soft music box is also natural, no batteries but manual winding up. For the catalogue of this shop you'll find wooden toys made from Moulin Roty and Haba.

  • MOULIN ROTY uses mainly solid beech wood. All solid wood used comes from forests that are managed ecologically and that answer quotas for felling and re-planting. The beech wood is red and a very resistant and flexible material. Its essence spreads positive energy, order, clarity and inspiration. All varnish and paints used are systematically tested and are non-toxic (test for the migration of heavy metals, test for pentachlorophenol). The MDF wood they use is controlled for the emissivity of formaldehyde.
  • HABA since 2010 they have borne the PEFC seal, which proves that they use timber from sustainable forestry in German forests. The beech and birch wood used come from forests located in an area of 150 km around our site in Bad Rodach in Franconia. They also acquire the plywood, which they import from Finland and Russia, exclusively from controlled cultivation. They thus support the preservation of the ecological balance of the forests and make their contribution to improving the worldwide use of forests and sustainable woodlands management. When they bring colour into play, they use only solvent-free, water-based stain. Therefore the toys can wander from hand to mouth at any time.

MERINO WOOL

It's a precious material and from its fine thread fibres can be produced highest qualitiy clothing, very warm and beneficial, that protect from cold and let the body breathing, at the same time. Merino wool clothing are very comfortable and soft.

ZQ Merino has the ability to control temperature and humidity, meaning you'll be able to exercise for longer and more efficiently, in both summer and winter conditions. It has the ability to resist the build-up of unpleasant odours. The sheep producing the wool are humanely treated, well fed, and live natural and healthy lives. Softness is a key attribute of apparel comfort.

This is why this merino wool is of the highest quality. Also, you can easily wash it with the washing machine - wool cycle or normal cycle max. 40°

BIEQ uses mostly Merino wool, but also I C E L A N D W O O L
As a breed, the Iceland Sheep is unique – its purity has been protected by centuries of isolation and a total absence of contact with others. Icelandic wool has a distinctive combination of inner and outer fibres. The outer fibres are long, glossy, tough and water-resistant, while the inner ones are fine, soft and insulating, providing a high resistance to cold. Iceland wool is unspun yarn and it is fragile to knit. However, due to the length of its fibres, it knits into an item that is both sturdy and soft. The yarn is very lightweighted and available in wide range of colours. AW2016/17 bieq will start to use blends with this wool. The new hat style BREG is handknitted with a blend of iceland & merino wool.
